Classroom-based physical activity breaks improve students’ focus, cognitive processing, and content retention. Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain, improves balance, motor function, and cognition – all important for learning.

The red color represented in the graphic shows how the brain has been “turned on” after 20 minutes of moderate physical activity.
